TNOA Long-Term Fellowships
For the first time, the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association (TNOA) is introducing Long-term Fellowship Programs exclusively for its Life Members in the subspecialties of Trauma, Arthroplasty, and Endoscopic Spine Surgery. These structured fellowship programs are aimed at providing comprehensive subspecialty training under the guidance of experienced mentors at reputed centres across Tamil Nadu.
The following Host Centres have been empanelled to offer these Fellowship Programs:

Eligibility criteria for TNOA Long-Term Fellowships:
- Only Life Members of TNOA can apply for the TNOA Long-Term Fellowships
- Age: Upper limit is 40 years at the time of application
- Basic qualification: MS(Ortho)/DNB(Ortho)
- Any member who had already undergone a TNOA Long-term Fellowship cannot apply for a second time.
Selection Process for TNOA Long-Term Fellowships:
The Selection Committee shall comprise the TNOA President, President-Elect, TNOA Secretary, TNOA Fellowship Secretary and the Head of the Institution offering the Fellowship (or his representative). The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final.
Screening Examination
University Medal or Medal awarded during National and State Conference
- 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Postgraduate-level questions covering all orthopaedic subspecialties
- Maximum Marks: 100
Personal Interview
Candidates shortlisted based on the Screening Examination will be invited to attend a personal interview conducted by the Selection Committee.
Selection Criteria
The final merit will be based on:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) Assessment: 50 Marks
- Personal Interview: 25 Marks

A. Years of experience after postgraduate degree qualification (MS Ortho / DNB Ortho / D Ortho)
- 1 mark for every completed year subject to a maximum of 10 marks.
B. Presentations
- Presentations in TNOACON / Other State level conferences / OASISCON – 1 mark for each presented paper or poster or e-poster
- National level presentations – 2 marks for each presented paper or poster or e-poster
- International presentations – 3 marks for each presented paper or poster or e-poster
Presentations as original author (presenting author) only will be considered.
C. Publications
- Articles published in indexed journals (DOAJ/Scopus/EMBASE, etc) other than PubMed – 1 mark for each
- Articles published in TNOA Journal – 2 marks for each publication
- Articles published in PubMed indexed National Journal/IJO – 2 marks for each publication
- Book chapters published – 2 marks for each publication
- Articles published in international journals – 3 marks for each publication
Publications as first author / co-author will be considered.
D. Special criteria
- Marks will be awarded for winners of awards/medals/patents related to orthopedics only – 2.5 marks for each award/medal.
University Medal or Medal awarded during National and State Conference
Tie breaker criteria (1): In the event of a tie, the candidate with more PubMed-indexed publications will be given preference.
Tie breaker criteria (2): Age seniority will be considered for the award of Fellowship.
