IOA Fellowships
Foreign Fellowship / Ambassadorship of IOA: Guidelines & Criteria
1) Only Life Members of the Indian Orthopaedic Association residing in India are eligible.
2) Application must reach the Chairman, Foreign Fellowship Committee before September, 30th every year to foreignfellowshipioa@gmail.com with copy to hon.secretaryioa@gmail.com / executiveofficerioa@gmail.com / ioahousedelhi@gmail.com.
3) Only online submission of document as attachments to be done on the official IOAemail IDs.
4) Application must contain a) Personal Profile Statement b) Curriculum Vitae c) Relevant Authenticated Scan copies (Not captured by mobile) d) Relevant certificate for age proof (birth certificate, school certificates or passport).
5) Authentication must be by a Gazetted officer, Head of the institute, Current President or Secretary of the State Chapter to which the applicant belongs.
6) A member will be selected for only one foreign fellowship. Any member who has availed an IOAforeign fellowship in the past not eligible to apply again.
7) Applicant can apply for more than one fellowship but not more than two.
8) For Communication, Mobile no and e-mail ID must be indicated. Note: any changes must be informed immediately.
9) Communication only in writing on e-mail is entertained.
10) Any wrong information or canvassing will disqualify the application.
11) The result will be informed to both selected & non selected applicants. Results will be displayed on the IOAwebsite.
12) Applicant must have a valid passport and shall obtain Visa to travel in proper time.
13) Selected applicant should proceed for overseas fellowship with valid Medical Insurance.
14) Those candidates who are in government employment will need to provide a letter of support from their director or head that they support concerning period out of employment or No Objection Certificate.

16) Submission of fellowship report is must to release of the fellowship amount to the candidate.

- IOA- Australian Orthopaedic Association Exchange Fellowship: < 50 Years
- IOA- Singapore Ambassadorship: < 40 Years
- IOA- Hong Kong Ambassadorship: < 40 Years
- IOA- Indo Irish Fellowship: < 50 Years

IOA Inland Fellowship
IOA-JOHNSON & JOHNSON TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP
- To expose the fellows to Senior Orthopaedic Surgeons with a view to interact, gain knowledge of attitudes and philosophy of work, skills, organization of departments and clinics, etc.
- No. of Fellowships – Three
- The Fellows will start from the venue of IOACON and visit the four metropolitan cities viz., Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta and New Delhi and at least two other smaller centres (decided by rotation) during their travel.
- All applicants should be less than 40yrs of age at the time of last date of application.
- Financial help provided by Johnson & Johnson
IOAROBERT ROAF FELLOWSHIP
- IOAmember below the age of 40 years
- Number of fellowship- ONE
- Duration – will accompany the IOAJ & J Fellows
Dr. S.S. BABHULKAR FELLOWSHIP
- To expose the selected Fellow to a Sub-speciality Centre in Orthopaedics.
- No. of Fellowship – One
- Period of Fellowship – 3 to 6 weeks
- Funded for Rs. 50,000/- by IOA
Dr. G.S. KULKARNI FELLOWSHIP
- To expose the selected young Orthopaedic Surgeons to a Subspecialty Centre in Deformity Correction, Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction.
- No. of Fellowship – One
- Period of Fellowship – 3 to 6 weeks
- Funded for Rs. 50,000/- by IOA.
THE IOA-WOC FELLOWSHIP
- Objectives: Sending members of IOA to be sent to Centres of Excellence within India to be trained in a subspeciality of their interest (Trauma, Spine surgery, Arthroscopy, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Arthroplasty, Oncology and General Orthopaedics).
- This is for duration of 3-6 weeks Criteria: Members of IOA can apply by sending a copy of their CV in the prescribed format clearly stating their field of interest and their preferred centre for training.
- The actual dates of the fellowship will be fixed up as per the mutual convenience of the selected fellow and the centre of his choice.
- Fellows will travel separately to the centres chosen by them presently being funded for Rs. 50,000/- each by IOA
IOA JMRF PAEDIATRIC FELLOWSHIP
- To expose the selected fellows to Paediatric sub speciality in Orthopaedics
- No of fellowship – One • Period of Fellowship – 3 to 6 weeks
- Funded for Rs. 50,000/- by IOA
(Age Criteria for above fellowships except IOA- J&J fellowship (2 to 6) are All the applicants should to be less than 40 years of age, at the time of last date for application. In case if there are no applicants, then persons above 40 years may be considered for the fellowship.)
IOA–PANACEA BIOTEC RESEARCH GRANT FOR BASIC RESEARCH IN ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY– one Funded for Rs. 50,000/- by IOA
INOR RESEARCH GRANT FOR IMPLANT / INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT– one
DR. ASHOK SENGUPTAVISITNG PROFESSORSHIPOF IOA – One
- Objectives : To avail the services of experienced and eminent Orthopaedic surgeons for upgrading the standards of Orthopaedic knowledge and care at the host center.
- Criteria : – The centres desirous of availing a visiting professor must apply to the Inland Fellowship Committee of the IOA. – The responsibility of making arrangements for stay and food for the visiting professor solely rests with the inviting department.
- Selection: – Those desirous of offering their services as a visiting professor on this scheme need to apply to the fellowship committee with – Detailed curriculum vitae – Designation: Professor / Associate professor with more than 5 years experience in this post / Consultant of more than 10 Years.
- Field of specialization in Orthopaedics – Duration of stay desired (One week / < weeks) – Suggest three centres, which you feel, will benefit by your visit. Funded for Rs 50,000/- by IOA
One set of application by the desirous institute / department and by Orthopaedic Surgeons willing to offer their services as visiting Professors must be made to send the form to Inland Fellowship Secretary
ORTHOPAEDIC RESEARCH FOUNDATION
- Funds for projects selected under this will be minimum of Rs. 1,00,000/-
- At present this is for Basic Sciences & Research in Orthopaedics
- The funding may increase depending upon the magnitude and far reaching consequences of the study being carried out
- The application must be accompanied with a complete project outline.
